Binet, Alfred

   physiologist, psychologist
Born in Nice, Alfred Binet, who studied with noted psychologists, was a founder of L'Année psychologique and contributed to the progress of experimental psychology (Introduction à la psychologie expérimentale, 1894). He is above all known for his work (with Théodore simon) on the measuring of the development of intelligence in young children.
His metric scale (Binet scale) of intelligence, established in 1905, was later modified.
